Take Action

Thank you for your interest and for your support.

The petition is now closed for signatures, and the message and signatures have been shared with Deer Lagoon Grange, Washington State Grange, and National Grange leadership. We will provide updates here as they become available.

We are grateful to the 651 individuals who signed the petition, including 510 signers from South Whidbey Island, WA; 74 signers from Central and North Whidbey Island, WA; and 67 signers from other communities.

In December 2020, we sent our petition to the National, State, and local granges. The petition was signed by 651 people, all asking for the following changes to be made at the Deer Lagoon Grange:

1. Shift direction to become, once again, a welcoming Grange that meets a true community need: for inclusive community space focused on families, farming, and positive social change, particularly for the many young farmers and farmers of color making the Island their home;

2. Prioritize the well-being of our front-line workers, families, small businesses, and community members in a devastating pandemic by honoring the public health guidance of Island County Public Health and the Island County Sheriff’s Department;

3. Commit to honoring the Grange’s tradition of transparency and accountability, including by immediately providing a public listing of board members, organizational decisions, activities, and leadership as required by law and by Grange by-laws.
